This series shows a great variety of motifs and colour arrangements. All these motifs are derived from the same basic motif by mirroring parts of it.
This series is about the combination of square tiles with triangular and hexagonal forms. Working with this motifs I experienced that experimental geometry can be fun.
The
ceramic tiles shown here are hand-painted in a manufactory in Tangshan, China.
Here
you can see, that even the repetition of one single pattern allows an nearly
endless number of variations, only by turning some of the tiles on 90 degrees..
For
this compositions only 4 different, at pleasure combinable motifs have been
applied.
Fishes,
birds and snakes, flowing water and mountains, abstract signs and chinese
characters, all this is hidden in these tiles.
For these compositions 6 different motifs have been applied.
All compositions shown here are based upon the same motif. The variations all are derived from a different colour arrangement of this motif.
